Quality Service Manager, HSBC Direct

Jersey

The 10 years I’ve been at HSBC have flown by. From starting out as a Premier Associate in the contact centre, to Customer Due Diligence and Procedures for Risk Operations (PRO), leading the PRO Team and now being a Quality Service Manager coaching the contact centre agents out in the Philippines, I have had my fair share of experiences in this company. Throughout my journey I have been fortunate enough to cross paths with some great people that have helped me grow as an individual, and in the roles I have held.

Shortly after returning from a sabbatical in 2021, I applied for my first team manager role. After I found out I’d got the job I started to overthink the decision and began to develop imposter syndrome – doubting my capability and believing I had made a big mistake. However, with the help and support of my line manager at the time, I managed to overcome my self-doubt and gained the confidence I needed to make the transition and I am very grateful for that.

I’d say it’s that supportive culture at HSBC that has made me want to stay here. This environment has enabled me to cultivate meaningful relationships inside and outside the workplace. The company also puts a strong emphasis on employee wellbeing, by offering tailored opportunities that cater to my needs. As a new father who decided to re-evaluate personal and professional aspirations, that’s helpful and shows the company’s commitment to supporting its employees.

My time at HSBC is proof that there will always be an opportunity for you to grow your career here at the pace you want. Regardless of individual circumstances, such as my own experiences as a new father, HSBC has always given me the chance to grow and develop my career in my own way. I’ve come across fantastic managers and people that have looked after me. I’ve never felt like I’m being held back by my job or my employer. If there are things that I want to do or that I need to do, I have that flexibility and that’s one of the main things I appreciate about working here.
