Rawdha Al Khayat
Global Markets Programme Graduate
Curiosity has always been the driving force behind everything I do. Whether I’m learning about a new market, connecting with people across the globe, or expanding my understanding of sustainability, I’m motivated by a desire to grow, learn, and apply that knowledge to my career and personal development.
When I graduated during the pandemic, the moment felt a little anticlimactic, but my journey with HSBC has been anything but that. Since joining, I’ve been fortunate enough to work in two dynamic roles – first in Securities and now in Corporate Banking. These experiences have been a springboard for learning and personal growth.
Global insights and endless opportunities
One of the things I value most about HSBC is how it constantly exposes me to new opportunities and ideas. For example, during a training programme, I connected with individuals from the UK, France, Germany, Turkey and more. It was a great opportunity to network with HSBC graduates, seek knowledge and learn together. These experiences have taught me not only about the world of business but also about the importance of embracing a truly global perspective.
HSBC offers so many avenues for growth. I’ve taken courses through our internal learning platform, HSBC University, and attended several market-specific events, which have expanded my expertise in areas like Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) and sustainability. I’ve also seen first-hand how the knowledge I’ve gained can translate into better, more impactful conversations with clients. For me, every day is a new opportunity to ask questions, gain perspective, and apply what I’ve learned. That cycle of curiosity, understanding, and application is what makes my role so fulfilling.

Mentorship, growth and the future
A big part of my journey has been shaped by the people I work with. My mentor, a Relationship Manager, has been one of the most inspiring influences in my career. Her dedication to her clients, her passion for learning, and her willingness to support and guide me have shown me the kind of professional I aspire to be. With her guidance, I’ve been able to navigate challenges and map out my future goals. Through HSBC’s personal development programme, I regularly sit down with my line manager to break those goals into actionable steps – not just professionally, but personally too. It’s empowering to have that kind of support.
Excited for what's to come
I’m also deeply optimistic about the future of banking in the UAE. The government’s focus on developing early talent has created a unique moment for people like me to grow and contribute. While local banks offer many opportunities, HSBC’s global reach and cultural diversity truly set it apart. It’s a place where I feel I can grow not only as a professional but also as a person.
For anyone considering their next steps, I’d say this: stay curious, embrace the unknown, and find an environment that challenges and supports you in equal measure. For me, that’s exactly what HSBC has done.
