Georges officially takes up his role as our new Group Chief Executive today.

Georges joined HSBC in 2005 and has worked in financial services, in various high-profile international roles, for almost three decades.

Prior to becoming our Group Chief Executive, he was our Group Chief Financial Officer.

He previously served as our Co-CEO of Global Banking & Markets and Head of the Markets & Securities Services division of our business.

Georges has worked in various senior leadership positions across Asia, the Middle East and Europe.

Group Chairman Sir Mark Tucker said: “Georges is an exceptional leader and banker who cares passionately about the Bank, our customers, and our people. He has a track record of leading through change, driving growth, delivering simplification, containing costs and brings a strong focus on execution.

“The Board looks forward to working together with Georges as he leads HSBC through the next phase of development and growth.”

Georges succeeds Noel Quinn, who retires today after nearly five years in the role.

We’ve appointed Jon Bingham, our Global Financial Controller, as our Interim Group Chief Financial Officer. A process to identify our next permanent Group Chief Financial Officer is underway.
