UK Students and Graduates

Ready to put your university studies into practice? With early responsibility, continuous learning and a development platform to ensure you succeed, our opportunities are a great way to start a successful career at HSBC.

We have opportunities for you whether you’re studying for, or have completed, an undergraduate or postgraduate qualification. Programmes open for applications at different times of the year. Join our Talent Community (opens in new window) and we’ll inform you as opportunities arise.

Our global internship programmes typically run for eight to ten weeks and are mainly for students in their penultimate year of undergraduate study. Programmes are available across the different areas of the bank and take place in our major UK locations. They will give you first-hand experience of what it’s like to work for an international bank and prepare you to join our Global Graduate Programme the following year.

Internship opportunities typically exist in Global Banking & Markets, Commercial Banking, Wealth & Personal Banking and Digital Business Services.

Our global graduate programmes are for final year students, recent graduates and post-graduates. They provide you with the skills and experience to succeed and progress your career in a world-leading international organisation. They typically run for one to two years. Programmes run across our business lines in our major UK locations.

Graduate opportunities exist in Global Banking & Markets, Commercial Banking, Wealth & Personal Banking and Digital Business Services. The number of spaces available vary each year dependent on how many of our interns secure positions.

Our industrial placements are for university students with the option for a year in industry. They run for one year and are offered in a select number of our business areas. They prepare you to join our Global Graduate Programme the following year and take place in locations across the UK.

Our Insights Programmes are for first year university students from any degree discipline. They typically run for a week over the university school holidays. They will teach you how to apply the skills gained at university to the world of work and demystify the career opportunities that exist ahead.
