As a computer engineering student, I never imagined I’d build a lifelong career in banking. But after joining HSBC in 2022, I’ve discovered that relationship management offers me so much exposure and opportunities. I get to understand what customers truly need and help them navigate a world of financial possibilities.

At my branch in Central, Hong Kong, my portfolio is diverse, with half of my customers coming from overseas. Many are business owners or directors of listed companies, and others are financially literate professionals seeking help with basic banking. Each conversation is unique. For example, a client might initially come in with a mortgage enquiry, but through our conversation, I can uncover a desire to strengthen their insurance portfolio. These experiences, driven by deeper customer understanding and relationship-building, have not only led to seizing wealth management opportunities and enhancing customer satisfaction but also resulted in meaningful personal achievements.

A career without limits

The bank’s emphasis on customer-centricity creates the perfect environment to succeed. I feel supported by HSBC’s collaborative culture and access to specialist expertise whenever clients have more complex needs. Comprehensive training has also shaped my career, and I’ve seen colleagues quickly rise through the ranks into roles within areas such as Global Private Banking. With so many progression opportunities, from leadership roles to internal transfers, I know this is a place where I can continue to grow and evolve.

The team culture here is incredible. Whether it’s catching up over happy hour or joining sports events like our recent HSBC Sports Day, I’ve found a sense of belonging that motivates me every day.
