I love talking to people and learning more about the investment market. This makes my role as a Relationship Manager incredibly fulfilling that it doesn’t feel like work to me.

At HSBC, we prioritise building strong relationships with our customers, which suits my skill-set – and it also leads to better outcomes. When I joined Hong Kong’s Sheung Shui branch, I was entrusted with a portfolio of clients from the Greater Bay Area of mainland China, as well as new walk-in customers. For the most part, they run businesses in mainland China and Hong Kong. Many have young children and I help set up funds or open bank accounts for them.

We have a robust support system at work that enables me to focus on adding the most value I can for my customers. We get on well and many see me as a friend. They often stop by the office for a chat to share updates about their lives and their upcoming plans, which helps me tailor solutions to meet their evolving financial goals.

I joined HSBC because of its history, reputation, scale – and for its career development opportunities. In the two years that I’ve worked here, I’ve been promoted twice. It’s also known for supporting internal mobility. I’ve seen colleagues make lateral moves to other business entities or countries.

In 2024, I had the honour of being invited to India to attend HSBC’s Circle of Excellence – a flagship recognition programme for customer-facing colleagues from around the world. It was truly rewarding to have my contributions acknowledged in such a significant way.
