Global Banking Graduate Programme

Work with major government, corporate, and institutional clients, as either a relationship or investment banker, to deliver tailored financial solutions including managing an initial public offering, preparing a bond, or negotiating a merger or an acquisition.

You’ll rotate across the relationship banking teams within Corporate and Institutional Banking and spend time in product teams.

Together with other teams like trade finance, cash management, capital markets investment banking, and markets and securities services, you’ll manage client relationships and conduct analysis on profitability, risks and other factors involved in transactions.

You’ll support relationship bankers and broader coverage teams across products and geographies, and work with product partners and other HSBC functions such as legal, credit, and risk.

You’ll be responsible for researching and understanding clients for the purposes of developing business and managing risk.

You’ll learn how we incorporate Environmental, Social and Governance considerations into our client solutions, ranging from sustainable supply chains to raising green bonds.

A day at work may include creating client presentations ahead of strategic meetings and pitches; preparing credit papers; analysing client information; supporting client strategic reviews; and client planning.

Following your successful completion of the programme you’ll have the opportunity to build a long-term career through a breadth of roles across different teams, sectors, products, and geographies.

You’ll work in a dedicated team focused on specific transactions, product, or market sectors in your region, to determine the best strategic solutions clients’ needs.

You’ll work within one of our core client facing teams, including Advisory and Investment Banking Coverage, Capital Markets, Real Assets, and Structured Finance and Issuer Services. And you’ll have the option of rotating to different teams.

You’ll prepare and review materials used in delivering our tailored financial and advisory solutions to clients, including investment documentation, management presentations, and pitchbooks by thoroughly researching market conditions, current events and future developments.

You’ll gain a deeper understanding of how various types of financial models are used for mergers and acquisitions, and debt and equity financing transactions.

You’ll also perform various valuation methods such as comparable companies, precedents, and Discounted Cash Flow.

You’ll complete due diligence, research, analysis, and prepare documentation for live transactions. You will have the opportunity to meet with clients to help develop our relationship with them, as well being involved in the execution of any ongoing transactions.
